As of now, Lyon are occupying seventh spot in the French top flight standings, having collected 56 points from 35 games, four adrift of the top five. The visitors, meanwhile, are sitting at the fourth position, with 65 points to their name, eight shy of third-placed Marseille.

Lyon suffered their 11th league-defeat of the season against Clermont last time out despite taking the lead through Alexandre Lacazette’s 22nd-minute effort. Prior to that, Les Gones secured a thrilling 5-4 victory over Montpellier thanks to Lacazette’s haul and one goal from Dejan Lovren. It was their 16th top flight victory of the season. Laurent Blanc’s men have now won five of their last seven outings, with wins over Paris Saint-Germain, Rennes, Toulouse and Strasbourg preceding the triumph against Montpellier. With three games remaining, Les Gones are sitting four points shy of European places and will be confident of breaking into the top five before the season ends. Meanwhile, Lyon have recorded five wins, three draws and two defeats from their last ten home-games across all competitions.

Moncao, on the other hand, have the third-best away-record in the league this season, having lost only two of their 17 outings, while collecting 35 points from a possible 51 thus far. Monegasques have been inconsistent across April and May, recording three wins, two draws and two defeats from their last seven games. With 11 points taken from 21 on offer, Monaco have slipped out of the Champions League spot (top three), and find themselves trailing second-placed Lens by ten points. With three games remaining, top two is out of reach for Monaco, and they will be looking to keep hold of their fourth places, which would earn them a place in next season’s Europa League group stages. The Red and Whites have won 19 top flight games this term and their recent success came away to Angers (2-1) courtesy of goals from Aleksandr Golovin and Myron Boadu.
