Leeds United will play host to Ipswich Town in an EFL Championship fixture at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently occupying third spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 42 points from 22 games, ten adrift of second-placed Ipswich, who are just three shy of leader Leicester City. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of draws at the weekend, with the Whites sharing the spoils against Coventry City (1-1), while the visitors played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Norwich City.

Leeds recorded a seven game unbeaten run across October, November and December, winning six matches in the process. Their last success came away to Blackburn Rovers on December 9 thanks to two unanswered goals from Daniel James and Crysencio Summerville. However, three days later, the Whites suffered their fourth league defeat of the campaign away to Sunderland courtesy of Jobe Bellingham’s lone goal in the second half. Meanwhile, Daiel Farke’s side were then forced to share the points against Coventry last time out despite taking the lead through Summerville’s 58th-minute opener. Such a result means that Leeds are trailing the the top two by 10 points, hence they will be desperate to get back to winning ways and start narrowing the gap on automatic qualification spot.
Ipswich, on the other hand, recorded four successive wins across November and December against the likes of Millwall, Coventry, Middlesbrough and Watford, scoring nine goals and conceding just three in the period. However, the Tractor Boys failed to register their fifth consecutive victory against Norwich last time out despite the fact that Nathan Broadhead and Wes Burns got on the scoresheet. Jonathan Rowe’s double meant that the points were shared at Portman Road on Saturday. Meanwhile, the reverse fixture at Portman Road back in August ended 4-3 in favour of the Whites.
Leeds United probable starting lineup: Meslier, Gray, Rodon, Struijk, Spence, Kamara, Ampadu, James, Piroe, Summerville, Rutter
Ipswich Town probable starting lineup: Hladky, Clarke, Woolfenden, Burgess, Davis, Morsy, Luongo, Burns, Chaplin, Broadhead, Hirst
