Leeds went into the fixture at Stadium of Lights on Tuesday on the back of a seven game unbeaten run, winning six matches in the period. However, the Whites were not at their best against Sunderland and suffered their fourth league defeat of the campaign courtesy of Jobe Bellingham’s lone goal 12 minutes from time. Wins for leaders Leicester City and second-placed Ipswich Town in the mid-week meant that Leeds have slipped to 10 points behind the automatic promotion spots heading into the tight festive schedule. The Peacocks have recorded 12 wins, five draws and four draws from 21 second tier games so far this season. Daniel Farke’s side are the only side in the division who still have their unbeaten home status intact, winning seven and drawing three of their opening ten Championship games at Elland Road.
Coventry, on the other hand, have recorded six wins, eight draws and seven defeats from 21 Championship games so far. Their last success came against Birmingham at the weekend thanks to Callum O’Hare’s brace. But four days later, Mark Robins’ men were forced to share the spoils against Southampton despite taking the lead through Haji Wright’s 50th-minute opener. Meanwhile, Coventry’s record on the road this season has left plenty to de desired, with the Sky Blues managing just two wins in ten fixtures away from home.
