Kazakhstan are up against Slovakia in the matchday four of the UEFA Nations League. With just a point separating these two teams at the top of group C3, it promises to be an exciting contest. This will be their second meeting in a week’s time, with the first one going in the favour of Kazakhstan 1-0. This top of the group clash could have a serious say of the promotion of either of the two team to tier two. Kazakhstan have accumulated seven points out of a possible nine till now, while their opponents have six in the same time span.

Following the battering by France last November when they conceded eight goals, not many would have predicted Kazakhstan to be at the top of their Nations League group at the halfway stage. But so has been the case, and a change in the coach to Magomed Adiyev has done wonders for them. A three-match unbeaten run in the Nations League so far has ensured that Kazakhstan go into the match against Slovakia as the favourites. They recorded narrow victories against Azerbaijan and Slovakia followed by a draw with Belarus. Abat Aymbetov has been the star man for them having scored three of their four goals.

Slovakia were the clear favourites going into group C2 having lost just once in five matches prior to June. However, the defeat in the reverse fixture against Kazakhstan has put their promotion spot in danger. They have recorded two 1-0 victories over Azerbaijan and Belarus respectively while also facing a 1-0 defeat against Kazakhstan. They will be keen for redemption as they look to fight for the top place spot. Slovakia’s recent run if anything, doesn’t provide promising signs for a goal-fest on Monday.

Possible Lineups

The table toppers will be without Islambek Kuat and Ramazan Orazov due to suspension and injury respectively. The unavailability of these players will surely cause changes in the game plans of Magomed Adiyev as he looks to carry on Kazakhstan’s unbeaten run. As for Slovakia, the main worry will be the unavailability of Milan Skriniar who is out injured. Other absentess include Martin Dubravka due to fitness issues and the suspended Vladmir Weiss. These key players won’t make it in time for the Kazakhstan match which will make Slovakia’s job ever more complicated.

Kazakhstan possible line-up: Shatskiy, Malyi, Marochkin, Alip, Kairov, Darabayev, Dosmagambetov, Vorogovsky, Orazov, Astanov, Aimbetov

Slovakia possible line-up: Rodak, Pekarik, Satka, Valjent, De Marco, Suslov, Lobotka, Hrosovsky, Haraslin, Rusnak, Strelec
