Juventus assistant coach Marco Landucci was pleased with his side’s performance after the 4-1 win against Sampdoria in the  Coppa Italia fixture in Turin on Tuesday. Massimiliano Allegri’s assistant felt that his team “put in a good performance” against a manger-less Sampdoria to go through to the quarter-finals of the competition. The holders put their nose in front through Juan Cuadrado in the first half before Daniele Rugani doubled the lead after the break. Although Andrea Conti pulled on back for Sampdoria, Paulo Dybala restored the two goal cushion and then Alvaro Morata made the score 4-1 from the penalty spot.

Allegri was suspended because of a ban he received the last time he was on the Juventus bench in the Coppa Italia against Atalanta back in 2019, so for the second game running it was Landucci on the touchline.

“We put in a good performance, which wasn’t easy with so few people in the stadium. We had the right attitude, were fired up and it was very important that we go through to the next round, as the Coppa Italia is a great tournament. Everyone did very well,” Landucci told Sport Mediaset.

Dybala, who didn’t celebrate the last time he scored against Udinese, as reports emerged that he is ready to walk away as a free agent, celebrated this time around. The Argentine playmaker has netted in the last two games and is looking in very good form.

“Paulo is doing very well, we are happy with his performances. He has been decisive the last few games, as he always should be. Unfortunately, we lost him for several games because of injury. Danilo made his comeback today with 60 minutes, we’ll be without Chiesa and dedicate the victory to him ahead of his knee surgery, as he’ll be stronger than before. We’re waiting for him.”

We are finding some consistency now: Landucci

Juventus didn’t have a great start to the season but of late, they have managed to get some positive results and are back in the Serie A top-four race, trailing the fourth-placed Atalanta by only one point. Meanwhile the Bianconeri have a tough run of fixtures coming ahead in the Serie A, starting with a trip to Milan, this weekend.

“The attitude is crucial and we had many games with the right attitude, even missing key players. There are no easy games, we saw that we lost more points against the so-called smaller sides like Verona, Empoli and Udinese.

“The only thing that matters is hard work, attitude and desire. We are finding some consistency now, we need to speak with actions rather than words.

“Milan are a great team, it’ll be tough, but we’ll go there and play our game, as always.”
