Juventus defeated Udinese 2-0 in the Serie A fixture in Turin on Saturday. Paulo Dybala finished off a fine team move to put Juventus in front, but the Argentine playmaker refused to celebrate and instead glared at Juventus directors in the stands. Weston McKennie headed home late in the game to seal all three points for the home side. Massimiliano Allegri’s side came into the match on the back of a 2-1 defeat against Inter Milan in the Italian Super Cup final and were missing Leonardo Bonucci, Federico Chiesa, Aaron Ramsey and Alvaro Morata.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 19th minute. Arthur’s through ball was flicked on by Moise Kean and Dybala swept it into the top corner with the inside of the left-foot from 15 yards out. Instead of celebrating, the 28-year-old angrily looked at the club’s directors in the stands after reports emerged that he is ready to walk away as a free agent.

Wojciech Szczesny, who came back into the team after getting fully vaccinated made a low save from Beto’s shot. The first half didn’t produce too much action and Juve went into the break with a slender lead.

After the break, Juan Cuadrado, who was back after suspension, tested Udinese goalkeeper Daniele Padelli with an in-swinging free-kick from the left flank. And then, Dybala combined with McKennie on the edge of the box, before drilling wide.

McKennie misjudged a header from Mattia De Sciglio’s cross but the Amrican didn’t make the mistake in the second chance he got. Eleven minutes from time, Dybala spread the ball to Sciglio on the left flank, whose perfectly weighted cross was headed home by an unmarked McKennie.

In response, Bram Nuytinck’s header on a corner went just over the bar before Szczesny fingertipped an Isaac strike over the crossbar.

Salernitana 0-3 Lazio

Elsewhere, Ciro Immobile scored a brace as Lazio thrashed Salernitana 3-0 at Stadio Arechi. Lazio raced to a 2-0 lead inside the opening 10 minutes. Milikovic-Savic’s cheeky back-heel flick, knocking down Luis Alberto’s over the top ball for Immobile. The Italian striker made no mistake as he slotted home past  Vid Belec with a first-time half-volley from inside the box.

Pedro was released down the right flank and the Spanish winger played the ball across for Immobile to tap-in from close range. He could have had a third but his header bounced off the underside of the bar and a late header palmed round the post.

Manuel Lazzari came off the bench to complete the thrashing in the 66th minute. Immobile spread the ball to Filipe Anderson on the right, who slid the ball through for Lazzari to slot home from inside the box.
