Bengaluru FC head coach Marco Pezzaiuoli is eyeing for a win against Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) fixture in Bambolim on Saturday to make it three wins in a row. The German tactician feels that “Jamshedpur are a physical team” and they have a “lot of pace” in the attacking department. BFC are on an eight-game unbeaten run while JFC has won their last three matches. It’s going to be an intriguing battle as both teams are in a rich vein of form.

Pezzaiuoli was speaking to the media ahead of the match against the Red Miners and when asked about what he would make of the Jamshedpur side, the 53-year-old said: “Jamshedpur are a physical team, they have a new player in (Daniel) Chima who brings a lot of speed, and can score a lot of goals. There are 6-7 teams who want to be in the top-four spot. Our last game was a good, tough game, but I think we did a little bit more than them on that night. They are a very pressing team like Kerala. They have a good mixture of experienced and young players.”

BFC ended Kerala Blasters FC’s 10-match unbeaten run in the previous game by securing a 1-0 win while JFC edged past FC Goa courtesy of new recruit Daniel Chukwu’s lone goal.

Head coach added “I think it will be a tough game for sure, but now after quarantine, we’ve had three games in seven days. We are still not back to our best, condition-wise, and that’s something we want to work towards.”

I think our defence has performed well in the last few games: Pezzaiuoli

The last time these two teams faced each other, it ended in a goalless draw. This time also, the chances of the match ending in a draw is very high as there is very little separating both sides. Both teams have a very strong defense, having kept four clean sheets each, only Kerala Blasters FC (5) have kept more clean sheets.

Against KBFC, the Blues managed to secure a clean sheet with an all Indian back line and when asked about that, Pezzaiuoli said: “I don’t like to differentiate between players, whether they are young or old, I think our defence has performed well in the last few games. I heard Erik Paartalu saying ‘defending is an art’, and that’s true.

“It’s a tough job, and I think we’ve done well. I was not happy with the finishing, we could have scored 2-3 goals. But it is past, this gives you confidence and power but in the end, a new game starts and you have to give your 100%.”
