Resurgent Bengaluru FC take on in-form Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) fixture at GMC Athletic Stadium on Saturday. BFC are on an eight-game unbeaten run while JFC has won their last three matches. It’s going to be an intriguing battle as both teams are in a rich vein of form. BFC ended Kerala Blasters FC’s 10-match unbeaten run in the previous game by securing a 1-0 win while JFC edged past FC Goa courtesy of new recruit Daniel Chukwu’s lone goal.

The last time these two teams faced each other, it ended in a goalless draw. This time also, the chances of the match ending in a draw is very high as there is very little separating both sides. Both teams have a very strong defense, having kept four clean sheets each, only Kerala Blasters FC (5) have kept more clean sheets.

Meanwhile BFC will be without Prince Ibara, who is suspended after picking up his fourth yellow card of the season. The Congolese striker’s aerial prowess will be duly missed in Bambolim on Saturday. Cleiton Silva is likely to come in for the 1.88m tall forward. The Brazilian is their top scorer with five goals to his name so far.

After a poor start to the season, that saw BFC losing five of their opening six games, they have now collected 16 points from their last eight games to move to the top-four with six games remaining. A win against the Red Miners will take them to 23 points, above JFC, level on points with second-placed KBFC.

It is likely to be a low-scoring game

In the last match against KBFC, The Blues played with a lot of energy and pressed higher up the pitch, not allowing the opposition to settle in. The midfield-trio of Suresh Singh, Bruno Ramires and Danish Farooq worked their socks off, especially Suresh, who was full of running and retained the ball possession on a number of occasions with his pressing and interceptions.

On the other hand, JFC’s defense will be tough to crack. Owen Coyle’s side has kept a clean sheet in the last two games, and has only conceded four goals in the six previous games.

Goalkeeper TP Rehenesh is second in the race for Golden Glove with four clean sheets and the back-four led by Peter Hartley is very strong. Just like what Suresh does for BFC, Jitendra Singh does it for JFC. The 20-year-old sits in front of the back four and does all the dirty work.

Both sides play a very physical game and have allowed very little space for the opposition to operate. Therefore it is likely to be a low-scoring game and the team which takes their chances will come out on top.
