Ipswich suffered only their second league defeat of the campaign away to West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns last weekend. However, the Tractor Boys quickly bounced back with a comprehensive victory over Millwall on Wednesday night thanks to first-half effort from Conor Chaplin, Massimo Luongo and Nathan Broadhead. It was their 13th second tier victory of the season, and Kieran McKennaa’s side know they must continue their sensational early-season form in order to keep the likes of Leeds United and Southampton at bay, as the recently relegated outfits are sitting at the third and fourth positions respectively.
Coventry, on the other hand, went on a six game winless run across October and November, recording four defeats in the period. However, on their return to action following the international break last weekend the Sky Blues thrashed Millwall 3-0 thanks to Matt Godden, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Ben Sheaf. Three day later, Mark Robins side edged past Plymouth courtesy of Haji Wright’s lone goal 15 minutes from time. It was their fifth Championship victory of the season. Meanwhile, Coventry’s away-form has been a cause of concern for Robins, as they have taken just eight points from their nine league games on the road so far. In order to challenge for a playoff spot, the Sky Blues will need to improve their away-record.
