After going winless for seven games across September and October, Preston began the month of November with back-to-back victories over Coventry City and Blackburn. The Lilywhites recorded their eighth league-win of the season against the Riversiders on November 11 thanks to Alan Browne’s 35th-minute opener and Liam Lindsay’s dramatic winner one minute from time. However, on their return to action following the international break last weekend, Ryan Lowe’s side were beaten 2-1 defeat by Cardiff City and then three days later, suffered their sixth second tier defeat of the campaign away to Middlesbrough. Meanwhile, on a positive note, Preston have won five of their nine league games at Deepdale this term, collecting 17 points in the process.
QPR, on the other hand, got the better of Stoke on Tuesday night thanks to Lyndon Dykes’ brace, Ben Pearson’s own goal and Chris Willock’s effort four minutes into the injury time. It was the Hoops’ third Championship victory of the campaign, and the result ended their 12 game winless run in the second tier. Moreover, it was the first time in 13 attempts that QPR had scored more than once in a game, stretching back to September 2. The poor run of form lead to Marti Cifuents replacing Gareth Ainsworth as the boss. The Spaniard, who is the clubs fourth manager in 12 months, has managed to take five points from his first four games in charge.
