Hyderabad FC produced a five star performance to thrash NorthEast United FC 5-1 in the Indian Super League (ISL) fixture at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Monday. Chinglensana Singh opened the scoring while Bartholomew Ogbeche netted on either side of the break against one of his former clubs. Substitutes Aniket Jadhav and Javier Siverio got on the score sheet late in the game to complete the drubbing. Laldanmawia scored a consolation goal for the Highlanders before the break.

Hyderabad FC started the game brightly as Juanan speeded the ball to Ashish Rai on the right flank and the young full-back tested Subhashish Roy at the near post. It didn’t take too long for Manuel Marquez’ side to take the lead as they put their nose in front inside the opening 12 minutes.

Edu Garcia, who was returning from injury delivered a teasing ball from a set piece which hit the post and the rebound fell nicely for Chinglensana to tap in from close range. It was the central defender’s first ISL goal.

Garcia was involved again as he played a precise overhead ball to Ogbeche up front. The Nigerian forward controlled the ball on his chest before slotting home past Roy and into the net from inside the box.

Meanwhile at the other end, Hernan had a golden opportunity to pull one back but his effort from close range was blocked by Hyderabad goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani. Danmawia halved the deficit, three minutes before the break. Tondonba’s long throw-in fell to V P Suhair, whose initial shot was blocked by Ogbeche on the line, but Danmawia was quick to react as he slotted home the rebound from close range.

After the break, Khalid Jamil’s side looked the more threatening side for a short while. Joe Zoherliana’s cross from the right flank found Danmawia  inside the box, but the former Hyderabad FC midfielder’s header went just over the bar.

Hyderabad FC defence saw off the initial surge from the highlanders before hitting them on the counter. Ogbeche turned away from Hernan, blazed a shot from range that went past Roy’s extended right hand and into the bottom corner.

In the 90th minute, Aniket made it 4-1 hor Marquez’s side. Kattimani’s goal-kick found the head of Siverio before Joel Chianese released Aniket with a headed through ball. The 21-year-old’s first time shot ended up at the bottom corner of the NorthEast goal. And then, in the 94th minute, Siverio headed home from Andre D’Silva’s cross to make it 5-1.

Man of the Match- Ashish Rai

The win helped Hyderabad FC to 10 points, just two behind leaders Mumbai City FC. While the Highlanders are languishing at the 10th spot with just 4 points from 6 games. It was NorthEast’s fourth defeat and Khalid definitely has reasons to worry

Meanwhile Hyderabad FC full back Ashish was adjudged the man of the match for his energetic performance down the right flank. The 22-year-old Indian along with his full back partner Akash Mishra, has been pivotal in how Hyderabad pin the opposition wings down.

Ashish overlapped Nikhil Poojary on a number of occasions, outmuscled the experienced Tondonba Singh. He created multiple chances down the right flank with his pace and crossing.
