Hapoel Jerusalem will host Maccabi Haifa in a Isreali Premier League fixture at the Teddy stadium on Sunday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Beitar Jerusalem in a domestic league fixture last weekend. Maccabi Haifa, meanwhile, suffered a 3-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in a Champions League match last Wednesday. Hapoel Jerusalem are currently occupying third position in the Israeli top division table with eight points from four games, while the Greens are sitting one place above them, having pocketed twelve points.

Hapoel Jerusalem have made a decent start to their league campaign, having recorded two wins and two draws so far. In their last match against Beitar Jerusalem, Hapoel secured the win courtesy of Eloge Guy Yao’s lone goal inside the opening 10 minutes. Prior to that, the Red Devils put three goals past Ashdod without reply. Guy Badash netted a brace before Tomer Altman’s late strike sealed the win for Hapoel.

Maccabi, Haifa, on the other hand, have made a perfect start to their domestic title-defence, winning all of their opening four games so far. In their last league match against Sektzia Nes Tziona, the Greens secured a 3-1 win. Omer Atzili netted a brace before Tjaronn Cherry completed the drubbing with a late third goal at Sammy Ofer stadium. After that, the Greens lost their second consecutive Champions League match against Ligue 1 Champions PSG on Wednesday. Although Chery put the hosts ahead inside the opening 24 minutes, PSG scored three goals through Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar to secure the win.

Probable Lineups

Maccabi Haifa boss Barak Bakhar is likely to opt for a strong starting lineup, with Atzili and Pierrot leading the line. Last game’s goal-scorer Chery could join Lavi and Abu Fani in the engine room with Haziza and Cornud occupying the flanks. As for Hapoel, William Togui could lead the line with Ofek Biton and Badash in support. Nadav Nddam could sit in front of the back-four.
