Lyon will host Paris Saint-Germain in a Ligue 1 fixture at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 2-1 defeat at Monaco in a French top flight fixture last weekend. PSG, meanwhile, secured a 3-1 win against Maccabi Haifa in a Group H match of the Champions League in the midweek. Lyon are currently occupying fifth position in the French top division standings with 13 points from seven games, six points adrift of leaders PSG.

Lyon has made a decent start to their 2022-23 Ligue 1 campaign, registering four wins and one draw so far. In their last match at Stade Louis II, Benoit Badiashile  gave the lead to Monaco in the 55th-minute before Guillermo Maripan doubled the lead eight minutes later. Although Lyon pulled one back through Kari Toko Ekambi, nine minutes from time, the hosts managed to hold on to the slender lead and secured the win. It was Les Gones’ second successive defeat of the season. After starting the season with four wins from their opening five games, the Peter Bosz’ side has paled into insignificance following back-to-back losses.

PSG, on the other hand, have made an impressive start to their title-defence, registering six wins and one draw in seven Ligue 1 games so far. In their last Ligue 1 match against Brest on September 10, Neymar’s 30th-minute goal was enough to separate the two sides at Parc des Princes. After that, the Parisians defeated Maccabi Haif 3-1 to make it two wins from as many European games this term. Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar netted for Christopher Galtier’s side at Sammy Ofer Stadium on Wednesday to take all three points.
