The Saints had a disastrous 2022-23 season, collecting just 25 points and losing 25 league-matches to finish at the bottom of the table, 11 points adrift of safety. Goztepe, on the other hand, finished seventh in the TFF 1. League last term, having taken 60 points from 36 games, and advanced to the quarter-final stage of the playoffs, but lost 3-1 to Bodrumspor. Nevertheless, Ekrem Dag will be hoping his side can go one step further this time around and earn promotion back to the Super Lig for the first time since 2021-22 campaign. Meanwhile, after the game against the Saints, the Turkish outfit will play Italian club Cremonese in another friendly.
