Alaves will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in the La Liga when they travel to Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Monday to face Getafe. The visitors will enter the contest on the back of a thrilling 4-3 victory over Europa League champions Sevilla last weekend, while Geta Azulones were thrashed 3-0 by Girona last time out. With just one point taken from their opening two league games, the hosts are languishing at the 18th spot, while the Blue and Whites are sitting at the 11th position, with three points to their name.

But the Deep Blue Ones couldn’t build on that impressive result, suffering a disappointing defeat away to Girona last time out. Gironistes opened the scoring through Yangel Herrera’s 12th-minute effort before Cristian Stuani netted a second-half double to seal their victory. Jose Bordalas’ side finished 15th in the La Liga Santader last term, which is disappointing considering that they were eighth, fifth and eighth in 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20. Meanwhile, Get Azulones have been busy in the transfer market this summer, signing as many as seven players, with Denia Marcos being the latest to arrive on loan from Atletico Madrid.
Alaves, on the other hand, returned to the top flight through the 2022-23 Segunda Division playoffs. Although the Glorious One suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Cadiz in their league-opener on August 13, they bounced back by getting the better of Sevilla in a seven-goal thriller at Mendizorroza last time out. First-half efforts from Luis Rioja and Ruben Duarte, and new signing Kike Garcia’s second-half brace helped Luis Garcia’s side record their first top flight victory of the season. The Blue and Whites spent six straight seasons in the top flight before getting eliminated at the end of the 2021-22 season and will be hoping to consolidate once again.
