Estoril suffered their 19th league-defeat of the season against Boavista last time out courtesy of Ricardo Mangas’s lone goal in the second half. Prior to that, Canaries thrashed Santa Clara 3-0 thanks to goals from Alejandro Marques, Carlos de Souza and Rodrigo Martins. It was their eighth top flight victory of the season. Having recorded two wins and 10 defeats from their last 12 outings, Estoril remain the last side who could still be dragged into the drop zone in the final few games of the season. With three games remaining, a victory on Monday will ensure Estoril’s participation in the top division for at least one more season.
Arouca, on the other hand, are in a strong position to challenge for a European qualification for just the second time in their history, having done it before in 2015-16. Despite losing their last two games against Rio Ave and FC Porto, Arouquenses are still on course to secure a Europa Conference League spot. Armando Evangelista’s side have recorded 13 league-wins this season and their last success came against Vizela almost three weeks ago thanks to Morlaye Sylla’s lone goal in the first half. After that, Arouca suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats against Rio Ave and Porto. Meanwhile, Arouquenses have done well at home this term having taken 29 points from 16 league-matches thus far.
