The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a thrilling 2-2 draw against Valencia on Saturday, while Real Madrid secured a 3-1 win over Barcelona in the 250th El Clasico, a day later. The victory helped the visitors to move three points clear of Barcelona, at the top of the Spanish top flight standings, having collected 25 points from nine games. Elche, meanwhile, are languishing at the bottom of the table, with just three points.

Elche shared the spoils against Valencia courtesy of Pere Milia’s brace. Milia opened the scoring inside the half-hour mark before Edinson Cavani netted a brace to give the lead to Valencia, on the strike of half-time. But Milia’s 65th-minute strike helped the Green-Striped Ones earn a point away from home. Los Franjiverdes are yet to register a league-win this season and the draw against Valencia was the third of the campaign. Real Madrid, on the other hand, have won eight of their nine La liga games thus far, while the only time they dropped points was against Osasuna (1-1), early in October. Last time out, Los Blancos thrashed arch rivals Barcelona courtesy of goals from Karim Benzema, Federico Valverde and Rodrygo. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are unbeaten in their last 18 competitive games, and have lost just four of their last 47 La Liga outings.
Elche centre-back Pedro Bigas suffered a head injury against Valencia and is doubtful for Wednesday’s clash against the reigning champions. Winger Fidel Chaves is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Milia, who netted a brace against Valencia is expected to spearhead the attack alongside Boye. As for Real Madrid, Andriy Lunin is likely to occupy the goal as Thibaut courtois is out injured. Ancelotti is likely to rotate the squad in order to give more game time to players line Eduardo Camavinga and Marco Asension.
