Coventry City will be bidding to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games in all competitions when they play host to Bristol City in an EFL Championship fixture at Coventry Building Society Arena on Tuesday night. The impressive run of form has helped the Sky Blues to move to sixth spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 43 points from 28 games, level on points with seventh placed Sunderland, while the visitors are sitting at the 13th position, with 37 points to their name. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of similar results in their respective FA Cup fourth round fixtures, with the hosts being held to a 1-1 draw by Sheffield Wednesday, while the Robins played out a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.

Coventry were moments away from progressing to the fifth round of the FA Cup, having taken the lead through Victor Trop’s opener on the stroke of half-time, but Sheffield Wednesday netted a late equaliser thanks to Djeidi Gassama’s 84th-minute effort. It was the Sky Blues’ second successive encounter with Danny Rohl’s side, with the first one ending 2-1 in favour of Coventry in the Championship courtesy of Bean Sheaf’s brace. Mark Robins’ men have now recorded 11 wins from their 28 league outings this term, and six of those victories have come across December and January, including a 3-1 success over leaders Leicester City earlier this month.
Bristol City, on the other hand, are winless in the Championship since the 4-1 success over Watford on December 26. The Robins’ last second-tier outings ended in a 1-1 draw, coincidentally with the Hornets on January 20, thanks to Scott Twine’s equaliser from the penalty spot mid-way through the first-half. On Saturday, Liam Manning’s side booked their place in the draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a goalless draw with Premier League side Nottingham on Friday night.
Coventry City probable starting lineup: Collins, Van Ewijk, Thomas, Kitching, Bidwell, Sakamoto, Sheaf, Eccles, Palmer, O’Hare, Simms
Bristol City probable starting lineup: O’Leary, Tanner, Vyner, Dickie, McCrorie, Williams, James, Pring, Knight, Twine, Conway
