The round of 16 of the 2021-22 season of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) is upon us and there are some feisty fixtures to look forward to. The knockout stages of the Champions League always succeeds in bringing out the absolute best of some of the players and this time will be no exception either. There are a number of players who can make a serious impact in Europe’s premier competition and it will be an absolute treat to watch for the fans of the beautiful game. Ahead of the commencement of the knock out stage of the competition, here is a look at some of the players to watch out for.

Kylian Mbappe

The French superstar is one of the most talked about footballers in the world today and while his future might be uncertain currently, he is sure to give his 100% when it matters. Mbappe has had a good scoring record this season, netting for Paris Saint Germain (PSG) a total of 21 times so far this season. Four of those goals came in the Champions League in six appearances. PSG will face 13-time champions Real Madrid in what promises to be a mighty encounter.

Robert Lewandowski

The Polish striker has been in scintillating form this season, much like the previous one, and will be sure to make a mark in the Champions League. Lewandowski has netted an incredible 37 goals in just 30 appearances for Bayern Munich this season. In the UCL, he has scored nine goals in six appearances. For a striker of his caliber, the Champions League is the perfect stage to showcase his talent and prove to the world yet again why he is one of the best footballers in the world today. Bayern will face RB Salzburg in the round of 16.

Mo Salah

Egyptian footballer Mohammed Salah has been on an absolute tear this season for Liverpool. In the Premier League, Salah has been a class apart from all other attacking players. The winger has netted for the Reds 16 times in the league and seven times in the UCL. Liverpool will face a stern test against Italian giants Inter Milan but one can count on Salah to rise to the occasion and deliver a match-winning performance.
