Celta are heading into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat away to Barcelona at the weekend, while Alaves were beaten 2-0 by Athletic Bilbao last time out.
Celta Vigo will be bidding to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Barcelona in a five-goal thriller last time out when they host Alaves in a La Liga fixture at Balaidos on Thursday. The hosts lost out to Blaugrana at the weekend despite taking a 2-0 lead, while the Glorious One are heading into the match on the back of 2-0 loss against Athletic Bilbao last time out. With just four points collected from their opening six league-games, the Sky Blues are languishing at the 18th spot in the Spanish top flight standings, while the visitors are sitting two places above Celta, separated by two points. Meanwhile O Celtina have won their last five encounters against the Blue and Whites, scoring 17 goals and conceding just two in the process.

Celta will consider themselves unfortunate not to have taken atleast a point against defending champions Barcelona at Estadi Olimpic Luis Companys on Saturday night. The Sky Blues took the lead through Jorgen Strand Larsen’s 19th-minute opener before Anastasios Douvikas finished off a quick counter attack to double the lead 14 minutes from time. However, Robert Lewandowski pulled Barca level with a brace before Joao Cancelo’s won the game in the 89th-minute and handed Celta their fourth league-defeat of the campaign. Meanwhile, the return to Balaidos may not provide the Sky Blues the comfort they need, having lost all three of their opening home matches without finding the back of the net.
Alaves, on the other hand, lost out to Athletic Bilbao on Saturday courtesy of goals from Inaki Williams and Oihan Sancet. It was their second successive defeats and fourth in the top flight this term. The Blue and Whites have won two La Liga games this campaign and both those triumphs have come in their first two home-fixtures, getting the better of Sevilla in a seven-goal thriller and edging past Sevilla last month. With no wins coming from their last 18 top flight games away from home, Luis Garcia’s men will be desperate to end their poor run on the road.
Celta Vigo probable starting lineup: Villar, Nunez, Starfelt, Dominguez, Mingueza, Beltran, De La Torre, Ristic, Larsen, Bamba, Aspas
Alaves probable starting lineup: Sivera, Gorosabel, Abqar, Sedlar, Lopez, Benavidez, Guevara, Sola, Guridi, Riojo, Omorodion
