As part of their final preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, Cameroon will host Jamaica in a friendly match at Ahmadou Ahidjo on Wednesday. The African outfit are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat to South Korea in a friendly in September, while Jamaica suffered a 3-0 loss to Argentina in the same month. Cameroon managed to qualify for the global event courtesy of getting the better of Algeria over two legs in the third round of qualification. The North American outfit, meanwhile, managed to secure only a sixth-place finish in the 10-team CONCACAF qualifying group, only the top four teams had a chance to the go through to the finals.

Since booking qualification for the World Cup finals in Qatar, Cameroon’s form hasn’t been very great, having lost two their previous three games across all competitions. The Indomitable Lions fell to a second consecutive defeat on September 27 when they were narrowly beaten by South Korea courtesy of Heung-min Son’s lone goal inside the opening 35 minutes. Meanwhile, the Central African outfit have struggled at both ends of the pitch in their last three games, scoring just one goal, while conceding three times. Rigobert Song’s side will also take on Panama in a friendly next week before beginning their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on November 24.
Jamaica, on the other hand, were on the receiving end of a comprehensive loss against Argentina when the two teams met at the Red Bull Arena on September 28. Julian Alvarez opened the scoring before Lionel Messi netted a double for Lionel Scaloni’s side to secure the win. Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side have now registered just one win from their last seven outings.
Both teams were unable to call upon any of their players in Europe For now. Marou, Emmanuel and Donfack are likely to form the front-three with Ikoung, Bato and Mbah occupying the engine room. As for Jamaica, Murray is expected to lead the line, with Fletcher and Atkinson occupying the flanks.
