Burton suffered their seventh league defeat of the season against Northampton on Saturday courtesy of second-half efforts from Marc Leonard and Sam Hoskins. The result extended their winless run to five games across all competitions, conceding six goals and scoring just two in the period. Their last success came against Bristol City (4-1) on October 21 thanks to Beryly Lubala’s brace and one goal each from Joe Powell and Kwadwo Baah. It was Burton’s fifth third tier victory of the season and they are currently occupying 14th spot in the League Two standings, having collected 20 points from 17 matches. On a positive note, the Brewers are undefeated in their last six games at Pirelli Stadium, scoring 11 goals and conceding just four in the process.
Port Vale, on the other hand, shared the spoils against Lincoln last time out despite taking the lead through Ben Garrity’s 34th-minute opener. Just when it looked like the Valiants would take all three points at Sincil Bank the Imps equalised through Olamide Shodipo’s 93rd-minute effort. Port Vale are now winless in their last tree outings, while they have also failed to win any of their last nine third tier games. With 19 points taken 16 games, the Valiants are sitting at the 17th spot in the league One standings, just five clear of the relegation zone. Moreover, their away form hasn’t been great either, with just one win coming from last seven matches on the road.
Burton Albion probable starting lineup: Crocombe, Hamer, Sweeney, Moon, Seddon, Walker, Helm, Powell, Oshilaja, Carayol, Lubala
Port Vale probable starting lineup: Ripley, Cass, Ojo, Debrah, Sang, Garrity, Conlon, Plant, Chislett, Devine, Ikpeazu
