Man City are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Chelsea in the weekend, while the hosts defeated an already relegated Southampton 3-1.
Fresh from lifting the 2022-23 Premier League title, champions Manchester City travel to the Falmer Stadium to take on Brighton & Hove Albion in a top flight fixture on Wednesday night. The Cityzens are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Chelsea in the weekend, while the hosts defeated an already relegated Southampton 3-1. Three points taken against the Blues helped Pep Guardiola’s side to move to 88 points from 36 games, seven clear of second-placed Arsenal, who have played a game more, and have just one more fixture remaining. Brighton, meanwhile, are currently occupying sixth pot in the standings, with 61 points to their name, just three above seventh-placed Aston Villa.

Brighton secured their 18th league-win of the season against the Saints on Sunday thanks to Evan Ferguson’s first-half brace and one goal from Pascal Grob in the second-half. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have been largely inconsistent in the last couple of weeks, having recorded four wins and three defeats from their previous seven matches. Their latest success over the Saints helped the Seagulls to seal a top seven finish and with two games remaining, they will be aiming to overtake fifth-placed Liverpool, who have just one match left to be played in the top flight this season. Just a solitary point from a possible six would seal Brighton’s place in next season’s Europa League. Meanwhile, the Seagulls will end their campaign away to their nearest challengers Aston Villa next week.
Man City, on the other hand, won the Premier League title without kicking a ball courtesy of Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, but Guardiola’s men got the job done in front of their own supporters thanks to Julian Alvarez’s lone goal inside the opening 12 minutes. It was their 28th league-victory of the season and the result helped Cityzens to extend their unbeaten run to a whopping 24 games, recording 20 wins in the process. With one trophy in the bag, Man City chase down a historic treble, with finals in the FA Cup and Champions League on the horizon. Meanwhile, City will end their Premier League campaign with a trip to Brentford next Sunday.
