Brighton came from behind to beat Arsenal on Thursday and progress to the fourth round of the EFL Cup. Danny Welbeck converted a 27th-minute spot-kick to cancel out Eddie Nketiah’s opener before second half strikes from Kaoru Mitoma and Tariq Lamptey helped the Seagulls secure the win at Emirates Stadium. Prior to that, Brighton secured a dramatic 3-2 win away to Wolves in the League fixture, courtesy of goals from Adam Lallana, Mitoma and Pascal Grob. It was Roberto de Zerbi’s side’s sixth league-win of the season.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, have recorded just four league-victories this campaign. Two of those wins came in their last four outings. Villa began the month of November with a thrilling 3-1 win over Manchester United at the Villa Park. Last Sunday, goals from Leon Bailey, Lucas Digne and Jacob Ramsey helped Unai Emery’s side take all three points against the Red Devils. However, four days later, Villa travelled to Old Trafford for the Cup fixture, but lost the match despite the fact that Ollie Watkins and a Diogo Dalot own goal either side of Anthony Martial’s response put Villa 2-1 ahead.
Brighton probable starting lineup: Sanchez, Gross, Dunk, Webster, Estupinan, Caicedo, Mac Allister, March, Lallana, Mitoma, Trossard
Aston Villa probable starting lineup: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne, Dendoncker, Luiz, Bailey, Ramsey, Buendia, Watkins
