The International Friendly match between Brazil and Senegal will take place at Estadio Jose Alvalade on Wednesday at 12:30 am IST.
Brazil is set to face Senegal in their second consecutive friendly match against a West African nation at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Tuesday. Having recently experienced their first loss in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, the reigning African Cup of Nations champions aim to bounce back and regain their winning form.
Ramon Menezes, interim manager of Brazil, celebrated his first win as the team defeated Guinea 4-1. Joelinton, Rodrygo, Eder Militao, and Vinicius Junior scored in a commanding performance. This was Menezes’s second match in charge, following a loss to Morocco. He took over after Tite’s departure following the 2022 World Cup. Brazil is currently ranked third in the FIFA World Rankings and has won all but one of their last six international friendlies since June 2022. The defeat against Morocco is their only exception in recent form.
Senegal’s perfect record in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers was halted as they settled for a 1-1 draw with Benin. Despite already qualifying, Senegal aimed for their fifth consecutive victory, but Rachid Moumini’s goal equalized Abdoulaye Seck’s first-half strike. They hold a six-point lead in Group L and have already secured their place in the tournament. Senegal is determined to defend their title after winning the previous edition in Cameroon. Before their final group match against Rwanda, they face Brazil in an exciting friendly, seeking their third win in four games. In a previous meeting in October 2019, the teams drew 1-1 with goals from Roberto Firmino and Famara Diedhiou at the Singapore National Stadium.
Brazil probable starting lineup: Alisson, Vanderson, Militao, Marquinhos, Lucas, Casemiro, Joelinton, Paqueta, Rodrigo, Richarlison, Vinicius
Senegal probable starting lineup: Dieng, Jakobs, Diallo, Koulibaly, Mendy, Kouyate, N Mendy, Ciss, Mane, Jackson, Sarr
