SC Braga will play Bournemouth in a pre-season friendly at Vila Real de Santo Antonio on Tuesday. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of victories in their previous outings. The Portuguese outfit defeated Middlesbrough 3-0 last Friday, while Bournemuth got the better of Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 on the same day. The Cherries finished second in the Championship last term to earn promotion to the top tier of English football. Meanwhile, Braga had a decent 2021-22 Primeira Liga season, finishing fourth in the points table to secure a Europa League qualification.

Braga failed to retain their Taca de Portugal title last term, as they were eliminated in the round of 16 stage, while they were also knocked out in the last-8 stage of the Europa League after losing to Rangers. The Archbishops began their pre-season with a 3-2 victory against Arouca before thrashing Middlesbrough in their last outing. After the clash against the newly promoted Premier League outfit on Tuesday, Braga will take on Nice, Portimonense and Celta vigo before facing Sporting Lisbon in their Primera Liga opener. Meanwhile Bournemouth will also play Bristol City and Real Sociedad before their Premier League opener against Aston Villa on August 6. The Cherries last played in the Premier League in 2019-20, finishing 18th to drop into the Championship, where they spent the last two campaigns.

Braga boss Carlos Carvalhal is expected to rotate his squad heavily as seen in the previous game in order to give this team minutes. Defender, Sikou Niakate, who arrived on loan this summer, should feature on Tuesday. Last season’s top scorer Ricardo Horta is likely to lead the attack alongside Gonzalez. As for Bournemouth, new signings Joe Rothwell and Ryan Fredericks are expected to get a place in the starting eleven. Meanwhile Joanas Lossl, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Brentford from Midtjylland is training with the club. Dominic Solanke, who scored 29 Championship goals last term, is expected to lead the attack with Marcondes operating behind him.
