Blackpool will host West Bromwich Albion in an EFL Championship fixture at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of victories this weekend, with the hosts edging past Wigan Athletic 1-0, while West Brom got the better of Stoke City 2-1. Despite the victory, Blackpool are still languishing at the 23rd spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 38 points from 42 games, four away from safety. The visitors, meanwhile, have a game in hand, and are sitting at the 11th position, with 60 points to their name, just three adrift of the top six.

Blackpool secured all three points against rock bottom side Wigan on Saturday thanks to Jerry Yates’ lone goal inside the opening two minutes. It was their ninth second tier victory of the season and the result ended the Seasiders’ four-game losing streak. Stephen Dobbie has been handed the managerial job on an interim basis after the departure of veteran boss Mick McCarthy from the Blackpool hotseat. On a positive note, all four of the Tangernies’ wins this year have come at Bloomfield Road. But Dobbie’s men have the worst defensive record in the Championship this season, having conceded 67 goals thus far.
West Brom, on the other hand, have won only six of their 20 away games in the league this term. Their first away-win since January came on Saturday afternoon at the bet365 stadium against Stoke. Jacob Brown put the Potters ahead inside the opening 30 minutes, before West Brom came out all guns blazing in the second half and netted twice through Jayson Molumby’s brace. It was the Baggies’ 16th second tier victory of the season. Meanwhile, the Albion secured a narrow 1-0 win over Blackpool in the reverse fixture in November last year thanks to Okay Yokuslu’s lone goal five minutes from time.
Blackpool probable starting lineup: Grimshaw, Lyons, Nelson, Thorniley, Husband, Bowler, Fiorini, Anderson, Poveda, Yates, Rogers
West Brom probable starting lineup: Palmer, Furlong, Ajayi, Pieters, Townsend, Molumby, Chalobah, Wallace, Swift, Grant, Thomas-Asante
