Blackburn Rovers will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they host Coventry City at Ewood Park on Wednesday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a goalless draw against Hull City on Sunday, while Coventry thrashed Queens Park Rangers 3-0. As of now, the Rovers are occupying seven spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 63 points from 41 games, level on points with sixth placed West Bromwich Albion, who have played a game extra. The visitors, meanwhile, have played a match more than the Riversiders and are sitting two places behind them, separated just a solitary point. Meanwhile, the riverse fixture in November last year ended in a 2-2 draw.

Blackburn Rovers are going through bit of a rough patch, having not tasted victory in their last five outings across all competitions, while losing three consecutive games in that period. The Rovers’ have won 19 league-matches this term and their most recent success came against relegation-battlers Reading (2-1) mid-way through last month, thanks to Ben Brereton Diaz’s second-minute opener and Ryan Hedges’ winner eight minutes from time. On a positive note, the Riversiders have the fourth-best home-record in the second tier this season, having collected 41 points from a possible 60 in front of their own supporters.
Coventry, on the other hand, have taken 28 points from their 21 league-matches on the road this season. The Sky Blues have lost only one of their last 13 Championship-games, while winning six in the process. Mark Robins’ men put three goals past QPR without reply last time out, thanks to Viktor Gyokeres’s brace and one goal from Gustavo Hamer. It was their 16th second tier victory of the season. With four matches left to play, Coventry have a very good opportunity to leapfrog Blackburn in to the sixth a final playoff spot with a victory on Wednesday night.
