Atalanta made a strong start to their 2022-23 Serie A campaign, recording two wins and a draw so far. In their opening match of the season, the Black and Blues defeated Sampdoria 2-0 before playing out a 1-1 draw against defending champions AC Milan. And then, in their recent outing, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side pocketed all three points courtesy of Teun Koopmeiners’ lone strike in the 50th-minute.
Torino, on the other hand, have also made a similar start to the season, registering two wins and one draw. The Maroons secured 2-1 victories against newly promoted outfits Monza and Cremonese, while their only draw was against Lazio. In their last match at Giovanni Zini stadium, Torino took the lead through Nikota Vlasic inside the opening 17 minutes, before Namanja Radonjic doubled the lead in the 65th minute. Although Cremonese pulled one back through Leonardo Sernicola, 10 minutes from time, the Bull held on to the slender lead and secured the win.
Atalanta defender Berat Djimsiti is sidelined with a fractured leg, while Jose Luis Palomino is suspended for a failed dope test. Zapata is likely to lead the line with Malinovsky and Lookman in support. As for Torino, attacking midfielder Aleksei Miranchuk is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Antonio Sanabria is likely to be the target-man up front with Radonjic and Vlasic operating around him.
