It was a solid and disciplined performance from La albiceleste as the Checkers struggled to create any clear cut chances. The four-man midfield of Argentina controlled the game, stayed compact and were effective during counter-attacks. France on the other hand, netted twice against Morocco without reply, courtesy of Theo Hernandez’s opener inside the opening five minutes and substitute Randal Kolo Muani’s 79th-minute tap-in after some stunning individual play by Kylian Mbappe. Didier Dechamps’s side also resorted to a counter-attacking style of football, with less emphasis on ball possession. The pace of Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele will be key to France’s success.
