Ankaragucu vs Galatasaray: Turkish Super Lig Records, Stats, Head to Head and Everything to know

Ankaragucu will host Galatasaray in a Turkish Super Lig fixture at Eryaman Stadium on Tuesday. The hosts are currently occupying 12th spot in the Turkish top flights standings, having collected 39 points from 33 games, five points clear of 16th-placed Giresunspor, while the visitors are sitting at the summit with 79 points to their name, just five above second-placed Fenerbahce. Ankaragucu played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday night but exited the Turkish Cup on aggregate, while Galatasaray are heading into the match on the back of a 2-0 league-win against Sivasspor last weekend.

Ankaragucu return to league-action on Tuesday after losing 3-2 on aggregate to Basaksehir in the Turkish Cup semi-final. Tolunay Kafkas’s side went into the second leg with a one goal deficit but goals from Ali Sowe and Anastasios Chatzegiovannis either side of Serdar Gurler’s equaliser forced the tie into extra time, where Philippe Kenny’s 111th-minute equaliser made the score 2-2 and eliminated the Ankara-based outfit. Meanwhile, Ankaragucu, who earned promotion to the top tier last season, have already assured safety, and a top half finish is still possible as they are trailing 10th-placed Alanyaspor by just two points, with a game in hand. Kafkas’ side have recorded 11 top flight wins this term and their latest success came against Umraniye (2-1) last weekend, thanks to Kevin Malcuit’s 18th-minute opener and Milson’s winner twenty minutes from time. 

Galatasaray, on the other hand, are heading into Ankara on the back of three successive victories in the super Lig, scoring five goals and conceding none in the period. Last Saturday, Cimbom secured their 25th top flight victory of the season against Sivasspor thanks to Mauro Icardi’s brace. The league leaders have won 14 of their last 17 league home-games this term. Galatasaray have been solid at the back this season, having conceded the least number of goals (26) in the Turkish Super Lig, while veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera has been a commanding force at the back with 15 clean sheets to his name. Meanwhile, Galatasaray boast the second-best away-record in the top flight this season, having taken 35 points from a 16 games on the road.

It was the their 56th victory against Ankaragucu in 87 encounters across all competitions, Meanwhile, Galatasaray’s previous visit to Eryaman Sradium ended in a 2-1 defeat and it was the Ankara-based outfit’s 15th victory over the 22-time Turkish champions.
