Despite losing 3-2 to Rennes in the second leg in France, Milan got the job done, prevailing 5-3 on aggregate. Luka Jovic and Rafael Leao found the back of the net for Rossoneri at Roazhon Park on February 21. On Saturday, Stefano Pioli’s men secured al three points versus Lazio in the Serie A thanks to Noah Okafar’s lone goal two minutes from time. It was Milan’s 17th top flight victory of the campaign, and they are now occupying third spot in the standings, having collected 56 points from 27 games. Meanwhile, Pioli’s side have been solid at San Siro, losing only one out of their last ten home games in all competitions, while recording seven wins in the process.
Slavia Prague, on the other hand, won five of their six fixtures to secure top spot in Group G of the Europa League. The Red and Whites’ lone defeat came against Serie A side Roma at Stadio Olimpico. After that defeat in Italy back in October last year, the Czech outfit went on an eight-game unbeaten run across all competitions, including five successive wins in the process. Meanwhile, the Slavists warmed for Thursday’s contest with a 0-0 derby draw with league leaders Sparta Prague. Jindrich Trpisovsky’s side are currently occupying second spot in the table, with 56 points to their name from 23 outings, four away from the summit.
