Tottenham forward Dejan Kulusevski felt he needed to stay calm and play without too many thoughts in his head after the thrilling 3-2 Premier League win over Manchester City on Saturday. The Swedish footballer joined the London club from Juventus in the January transfer window and made his first league start against leaders Manchester City. Kulusevski had an impressive game, scoring the opening goal and providing the assist for Harry Kane’s decisive winner in the fifth minute of stoppage-time.

“I suffered so much over the last few months, I didn’t feel like myself and playing like this with my first Premier League start, I cannot describe it,” Kulusevski told Sky Sport Italia.

“I needed to stay calm and play without too many thoughts in my head. We scored so early, it was great, you don’t have to think anymore, you can just play.”

It was a scintillating game of football at Etihad Stadium that saw both side going neck-and-neck before Antonio Conte’ team came out on top. Kulusevski put the visitors ahead inside the opening five minutes. It was a brilliant breakaway move that saw Kane release Son Heung-min on the left with a perfect first-time pass.

The South Korean raced forward before squaring it for Kulusevski to slot home from inside the box. Spurs netted their second of the night just before the hour-mark when Kane fired in from Son’s cross.

Just when it looked like the points would be shared, Kane scored from Kulusevski’s cross to seal the win for Spurs. Rodrigo Bentancur’ overhead ball released Kulusevski down the right flank, the Swedish winger delivered a perfect cross for Kane to head home past Ederson and into the net.

Conte only wants to win: Kulusevski

Kulusevski seems to be enjoying his life in England. The 21-year-old has already made some key contribution’s since joining the club in January and looks like he is a pivotal part of Conte’s plans. How is he finding life under Conte?

“Conte only wants to win and if he doesn’t win, he is not happy. We work really hard and that is what we need, there are no other secrets. You have to work hard and listen to the coach. If you listen to him, you can do well.”

The front three of Spurs- Son, Kane and Kulusevski- had a brilliant game and they were too hot for City’s defence to handle. Kane, who plays as a centre-forward, often drops back, taking defenders with him and creating space for his fellow attackers Son and Kulusevski.

Both Son and Kulusevski have the pace and skill-set to exploit the space and they did that to good effect against the league leaders,
