Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur  will both be aiming to bounce back after suffering defeats in their respective games in the weekend. Brighton lost 2-0 to Liverpool while Spurs lost 3-2 against Manchester United in a thrilling encounter at old Trafford. Tottenham have two games in hand over the three teams just above them and a positive result at Amex Stadium on Wednesday will help them move level on points with fifth-placed West Ham United.

Robert Sanchez escaped punishment for his high boot challenge as Luis Diaz put Liverpool ahead on 19 minutes before Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot in the second half to seal the win for Liverpool. The defeat left Graham Potter’s side at the 13th spot with 33 points from 28 games.

It was Brighton’s fifth consecutive defeat, having found the back of the net only once and conceding at least twice in every game during the miserable period. The Seagulls have also now lost their last three on the bounce at home without scoring following the loss to Liverpool and only prevailed in one of their last 11 Premier League games at amex.

Tottenham produced an impressive performance against the Red Devils but in the end came up short because of Cristiano Ronaldo’s superb hat-trick. Harry Kane canceled out Ronaldo’s opener before Harry Maguire’s own goal, once again leveled the score, but the Portuguese legend’s 81st minute header gave the three points to United.

Anotnio Conte’s side fought well to level the score twice and it was a pretty evenly-contested clash. The streak of inconsistency under Conte doesn’t look like ending soon. Prior to the lose against United, Conte’s side won four straight league games, scoring 13 goals, conceding just three, and that included 3-2 victory against Manchester City.

Team news

Brighton midfielder Adam Lallana lasted just eight minutes against his former club because of a hamstring injury and is likely to miss out here. Meanwhile Jakub Moder, Pascal Gross and Enock Mwepu are likely to occupy the midfield while Shane Duffy could return to the back line to offer a bit more solidity in the defence.

As for Tottenham, Ryan Sessegnon’s muscular problem will keep him out for a while, therefore Sergio Reguilo will continue at the left-wing-back position. Conte didn’t pick any fresh concerns at Old Trafford and is unlikely to make any changes.

The front three consisting of Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski looks to be in good form. Kulusevski has settled pretty well in Conte’s plans and is combing very well with the likes of Son and Kane.
