Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap defeated Chinese Taipei’s Chia Hao Lee 21-10, 21-19 to go through to the quarter-finals of the Taipei Open 2022,
Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap has made his way into the quarter-finals of the Taipei Open 2022, while his compatriots Kiran George, Priyanshu Rajawat and Mithun Manjunath bow out in the second round of the competition here on Thursday. 35-year-old Kashyap defeated Chinese Taipei’s Chia Hao Lee 21-10, 21-19 in a match that lasted 36 minutes, while Kiran went down fighting 23-21, 16-21, 21-17 to local star Chou Tien Chen. Manjunath played a thrilling three-set match against Japan’s Kodai Naraoka but went down 24-22, 21-5, 21-17.

In women’s singles, Samiya Imad Darooqi of India lost to Wen Chu Hsu of Chinese Taipei, losing 21-8, 21-13. Meanwhile there was some good news from the doubles section as the mixed doubles pair of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto went through to the quarter-finals, beating Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Kai Wen and Wang Yu Qiao 21-14, 21-17. In the women’s doubles category, India’s Tanisha Crasto and Shruti Mishra defeated Cheng Kai Wen/ Wang Yu Qiao 21-14, 21-17 to make it to the last-8 of the competition. Crasto and Mishra will take on Hong Kong’s Hoo Pang Ron/ Toh Ee Wei for a place in the semi-finals.
The 2022 Taipei Open will commence on July 19 and end on July 24.
