Arjun and Kapila got the better of the German duo of Jones Ralfy Jansen and Jan Colin Voelker 21-19, 21-19 in 34 minutes. The Indian duo will next face Sze Fei Goh and Nur Izzuddin of Malaysia in the next round. Meanwhile India’s two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu and Thomas Cup hero HS Prannoy have eased into the round of 16 of the tournament.

In the first round, Sindhu defeated Lianne Tan of Belgium 21-15, 21-11. Meanwhile Prannoy got the better of Thailand’s Sitthikom Tammasin in straight games 21-13, 21-17. Former world number 1 Kidambi Srikanth suffered a surprise loss to compatriot Mithun Manjunath and exited the competition in the opening round. In another shocker, Ashmitha Chaliha defeated seventh seed Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand in straight games.
The 2022 Singapore Open will commence on June 12 and end on July 17.
