The golden duo of Satwik-Chirag have continued their winning mojo from last year as they storm into the quarterfinals with straight-set wins over Yang Po Han and Lu Ching Yao of Chinese Taipei in the ongoing 2024 Yonex Sunrise India Open Super 750. The 5th-seeded Indian duo dished out a dominant on-court performance to win the match 21-14, 21-15.

After having to retire in the early stages of the 2023 India Open, the Asian Games gold medalists made a statement out of their performance as they punched out meaty blows and smashes to the 23rd-ranked pairing. Interestingly the Taiwanese pair had defeated the Indian duo last time when they had met a few months back at Japan Masters.

The star Indian men’s doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireedy and Chirag Shetty though had taken the attention of most of the crowd at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall. Sat-Chi pairing gave enough reasons for India to celebrate as they won the first set 21-14 and led 4-2 in the second. Subsequently, Satwik-Chirag took the lead 15-11 in the second game, having already taken the first one. They eventually won the second set 21-15 to move to the quarterfinal.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will now face the dynamic duo and sixth-seeded Danish pair of Kim Astrup & Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the quarters. Both Satwik and Chirag have a score to settle with the Danes as the latter had caused the Indian duo a quarterfinal exit from the World Championships last year.
