The women’s doubles duo of Treesa and Gayatri lost to Benyapa Aimsaard-Nuntakarn Aimsaard 17-21, 21-14, 21-18 in one hour and two minutes. The Indian pair pocketed five consecutive points to secure the first game 21-17, before the Thai duo got their acts together to clinch the next two and thereby the match. The third game was closely fought. The Thai pair were trailing 11-7 at the interval, but then came out all guns blazing post-interval and moved to a 13-15 lead with four consecutive points before wrapping up the match, winning the game 21-18.

In the men’s singles semi-final, former world no. 1 Srikanth went down to Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting in startight games. The scoreline read 21-18, 21-15. This was the 29-year-old Indian’s fourth semi-final defeat of the year. The world no. 11 lost in the last-4 stage at the Swiss Open in March, Korea Open in April, Commonwealth Games in August, respectively. Ginting will next take on Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in the title-decider on Sunday. Meanwhile, in the women’s singles category, two Chinese shuttlers Zhang Yi Man and Han Yue will face each other for the title on Sunday.
