Ace Indian shuttlers Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy advanced to the last-16 stage of the ongoing Denmark Open 2022. Lakshya defeated Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting in straight games, while Prannoy got the better of Chinese shuttler Xhao Junpeng on Wednesday. Meanwhile veteran Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal crashed out in Round 1. World number one Viktor Axelsen of Denmark cruised into the round two courtesy of dispatching Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn 21-16, 21-8 in just 39 minutes. The reigning world champions will next face compatriot Rasmus Gemke.

Lakshya beat Ginting with a scoreline of 21-16, 21-12 in a match that lasted 39 minutes to set up a mouthwatering pre-quarterfinals clash against compatriot Prannoy. This was Sen’s third win of the year against the Indonesian shuttler , the earlier two coming during the German Open in March and the Thomas Cup triumph in May. Prannoy, on the other hand, defeated Zhao Jun Peng 21-13, 22-20 in 43 minutes. Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles category, Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated South Korean pair of Kang Min-Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae in the first round match on Wednesday.
