The World Mountain and Trail Running Championship is set to kickstart tomorrow. The World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) and the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) will organize this mega-event. The WMTRC is a five-day event. Out of the five days, four days have been reserved for competition. The competition includes a variety of races, including uphill, downhill, and mixed terrain races. The contest categories are Vertical Uphill, Trail Long, Trail Short, Mountain Classic Junior and Mountain Classic Senior. In addition to this, U-20 men and women will compete in classic up-and-down mountain running.

Preparation and planning for this event had long begun before the event. This can be best understood in the words of World Athletics President Sebastian Coe, “We are thrilled that the 2023 edition of the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships will be taking place in the Austrian region of Innsbruck-Stubai.” The event attracts elite athletes from around the world, including the United States, Great Britain, Spain, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Belgium, and even Kenya. All these athletes compete for the title of world champion in their respective categories. World Mountain and Trail Running Championship also include a team competition, where countries compete against each other for the title of world champion.
