The World Athletics Continental Tour 2024 schedule is now out, featuring the season’s first Gold level event in Melbourne, Australia, on February 15, 2023. The upcoming year’s tour includes over 190 events, categorized into Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Challenger based on competition quality and prizes. The tour features 12 top-tier Gold events across five continents, with additional Silver, Bronze, and Challenger events set to expand as the season unfolds.

The Maurie Plant Meet in Melbourne marks the beginning of the Gold level competitions and will attract leading athletes like Jake Wightman, Britain’s 2022 world 1500m champion. Last year, this event drew a crowd of over 7500 to see stars like Fred Kerley. The tour continues with Gold level meets in Gaborone, Botswana (April 14), Nairobi, Kenya (April 20), Los Angeles, USA (May 18), Tokyo, Japan (May 19), and Ostrava, Czechia (May 28).

As athletes prepare for the Paris Olympics 2024 in August, the Gold tour heads to New York, USA (June 9), Turku, Finland (June 18), Bydgoszcz, Poland (June 21), Hengelo, the Netherlands (July 7), and Szekesfehervar, Hungary (July 9). After the Olympics, the season’s final Gold meet will be in Zagreb, Croatia (September 8). In 2023, 15,552 athletes from 173 countries participated in the Continental Tour and achieved remarkable records and personal bests.

Some noteworthy performances included Ryan Crouser of the USA breaking his own world shot put record with a 23.56m throw in Los Angeles, New Zealand’s Zoe Hobbs setting a new Oceania 100m record in Sydney and La Chaux-de-Fonds, and Brooke Andersen of the USA exceeding 80 meters in hammer throw. Kenya’s Beatrice Chepkoech established a world 2000m steeplechase record, wrapping up the 2023 Gold season in Zagreb. The 2024 Gold level events will be broadcast in 145 territories worldwide.
