Sprinter Julien Alfred is from Saint Lucia and was born on June 10th, 2001. At the Commonwealth Games in 2022, she took home the silver medal in the 100 metres. For the 60 metres indoors, Alfred holds a share of the North American record.

Julien Alfred, who was raised in the Ciceron neighborhood of south Castries, went to Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School in Saint Lucia from 2013 to 2015 and St. Catherine High School in Jamaica from 2015 to 2018. She later attended the University of Texas to complete her bachelor’s degree in Youth & Community Studies.
In 2015, Alfred won the U15 title in the Central American and Caribbean region. She received recognition as Saint Lucia’s Junior Sportswoman of the Year both in that year and in 2017. When the Games were held in Nassau, Bahamas in 2017, she won the 100 m competition for junior athletes. In second place after Nigeria’s Rosemary Chukwuma, she won silver at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
At the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships in 2022, Alfred ran the fastest 60-meter time in NCAA history, clocking a speed of 7.04 seconds in the heats. She then rose to become one of the top 30 fastest women of all time at the age of 21. Her time of 10.81 seconds during the women’s 100-meter preliminary round of the Big 12 Conference Championships in Lubbock, Texas on May 14 set a national and championship record for Saint Lucia.
