Dhing Express and ace sprinter Hima Das marched into the semi-finals of the Women’s 200m in Birmingham 2022. She finished first in Heat 2 clocking 23.42 secs to seal direct qualification in the Semis. In her heat, Zambia’s Rhoda Njovu and Uganda’s Jacent Nyamhunge clocked 23.85 sec and 24.07 sec to secure second and third place.

The 22-year scripted history by winning the gold in the women’s 400m in World U-20 Championships. She became the first athlete from India to achieve this feat in the tournament held in Finland. Hima collected the silver medal at the Asian Games 2018, clocking 50.79 secs (new NR). At the Gold Coast, she achieved sixth place with the best effort of 51.32 secs.

Earlier, Murali Sreeshankar and Muhammed Anees Yahiya had qualified for the Men’s long jump final. The 23-year-old Shreeshankar stormed into the final on his first jump (8.05m), breaching the direct qualification mark (8.00m). While Anees (7.68m) too joined his compatriot with an eighth-place finish in the Qualification.
