The Diamond League 2024 will kickstart with a double whammy in Xiamen on April 20th and Shanghai on April 27th.
The 2024 Diamond League is the fifteenth season of the annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The competition is a revision to the top-level athletics series since the Diamond League foundation in 2010. The number of Diamond Discipline events is 32.
Each meeting will host several Diamond Discipline events and some of these events will not be broadcast. Events losing Diamond Discipline status will feature on the World Athletics Continental Tour, the second tier of track and field meetings.
The Diamond League 2024 calendar spans from April to September comprising 15 track and field meets. It will commence on April 20 in Xiamen, China and will culminate with the prestigious Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium. This year there is a slight change in the Diamond League Calendar due to the Olympics. The first break is slotted in between June 2 to July 7 for Olympic qualifying trials. On the other hand, a second break is set from July 20 in London to August 22 for the actual Olympic Games.

The Diamond League will kickstart with a dual feature in Xiamen on April 20th and Shanghai on April 27th. Subsequently, the caravan will shift to Qatar, Morocco and the United States. Post this the train of Diamond League will shift its course to Europe.
Come July, the Paris, Monaco and London meetings will offer the athletes a platform to prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Post-Olympics, competitors will have four more opportunities to accrue points in Lausanne, Silesia, Rome and Zurich. Subsequently, the Diamond League will be leading to the season’s conclusion on September 13th-14th in Belgium at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme, Brussels. Interestingly, it also marks a return of the season finale to the city for the first time since 2019.
Interestingly, it is anticipated that this year there might be a change in venues in two of the initially proposed venues as the stadiums are under renovation. As a result, the proposed meeting which was slotted to take place in Rabat will now be taking place in Marrakesh. On the other hand, the event that was scheduled to take place in Shanghai will be taking place in Suzhou.
