At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on Sunday, Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay’s incredibly entertaining match allegedly drew a large crowd backstage. When the performers entered the ring, they were greeted with “applause and a standing ovation” in addition to “heavy praise” from their other competitors according to Fightful Select (h/t Upton). They ultimately squared off again at Forbidden Door after Omega defeated Ospreay for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship in an instant classic at New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom in January.

Ospreay could  take the U.S. title back to Japan

The victory strengthened the burgeoning animosity among Omega and Callis and allowed Ospreay to bring the American title back to Japan. It seems sense that a rubber match between Ospreay and Omega may occur given that All In will take place in Ospreay’s native England in August. If that occurs, Ospreay will probably be the overwhelming audience favorite in London, though Omega has a chance to win them over with a performance like the one he gave at Forbidden Door.

The Judgment Day

According to reports, The Judgement Day members have been getting high praise for their recent internal work with WWE. Fightful Select claims that WWE executives praised Finn Balor for being easy to work with, Rhea Ripley for overcoming knee problems and displaying selflessness during her women’s world title reign, Damian Priest for his work ethic, and Dominik Mysterio for his willingness to make additional media appearances.

The four current members of The Judgement Day have a flawless chemistry and complement one another well, making them perhaps the best stable in wrestling outside of The Bloodline. It is most likely no coincidence that each of them has a chance to be crucial in this weekend’s Money in the Bank premium live event.

WWE Discontent With McMahon’s Frequent Changes

Some employees at the corporation are apparently unhappy with Vince McMahon’s purported influence over WWE’s weekly creative choices. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), McMahon frequently sends in remote rewrites for Raw and SmackDown, and some backstage employees in WWE are “trying to figure out a way to have him not do this.”

Meltzer also made the assumption that Triple H, the head of creative for WWE, may not enjoy McMahon’s involvement but is powerless to prevent it because of the potential consequences to his position within the organization. McMahon’s “fingerprints” were evident throughout Monday night’s broadcast of Raw, according to PWInsider (h/t Ortman). In pro wrestling creative, there is room for cooperation, but if McMahon is interfering and trampling on Triple H and other creative team members’ toes, it might not be the best setting for creativity.
