This year’s WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2022 will feature none other than the phenom, the Undertaker. We can all agree that his induction into the hall of fame is well deserved and was long overdue. However, this isn’t the first time that the Undertaker has been offered the honour of being inducted.

Speaking to The Dallas News, the Undertaker admitted that he wasn’t too surprised when WWE offered him a spot in the Hall of Fame, because they asked him to join several years back.

He said, “This is actually the second time that I was invited to the Hall of Fame. So I wasn’t as shocked this time. I turned it down the first time because I knew I had unfinished business. I wasn’t at that place yet where I was ready to let go and say that it’s over. This time I’ve made my peace, and I’m just honoured and humbled that they would induct me.”

Boneyard match was the perfect ending for Undertaker

The Undertaker said that he rejected the initial Hall of Fame offer after his Wrestlemania streak was ended by Brock Lesnar because he wasn’t ready to call it quits.

“It was, I want to say after the Brock WrestleMania? Yeah, I think it was after that. And I just, in my head, I couldn’t end on a match that I didn’t remember. I got concussed and I don’t remember even having that match. So I wanted to at least have a match that I could remember. So I kept working here and there for the next few years. And then trying to leave on that upbeat note. Fortunately, we had the Boneyard match, and I said alright, that’s it. I think I’m good, it’s time to call it a day. And here we are.”

The Undertaker had a show-stealing Boneyard match with AJ Styles at Wrestlemania 36 and that presented him with the perfect opportunity to go out on a high as that was always how he wanted to end his illustrious wrestling career.
