WWE superstar Big E has provided an update on his broken neck injury that he sustained in a match against Ridge Holland on SmackDown two weeks ago.

He fractured his C1 and C6 vertebrae and revealed that the injury was a lot more serious than he initially thought. He took to Twitter and said that narrowly escaped paralysis, a stroke and death after the injury.

He tweeted, “Had my first doctor’s appointment and learning (because of the C1 fracture) I narrowly escaped a stroke, paralysis or death is very sobering. Life feels even more precious and valuable now.”

The news comes after a former WWE doctor, David Chao, said something similar and suggested that the former WWE champion’s career may come to a premature end. He said, “The C1 fracture is most dangerous as the top cervical vertebrae is a ring and is commonly associated with immediate death or complete paralysis. Thankfully the fracture was not displaced and he will not need surgery. However, this type of fracture often heals incompletely and it may mean the end of his wrestling career.”

Wrestlers send wishes to Big E

Sami Zayn broke character and shared an emotional message for Big E. To Big E’s earlier tweet, Zayn replied, “It’s a miracle just to be alive. Grateful for the chance to have this short time together, sharing the ring, sharing stories, and sharing laughs.”

Elsewhere, AEW star Powerhouse Hobbs also sent his best wishes to Big E. While appearing on the Superstar Crossover Podcast, Hobbs said, “He [Big E] knows how I feel about him. I wish him a speedy recovery. I’m gonna keep texting you and blowing you up like I do. If you need anything, call me. I want to see you get back in this ring, man. So take your time, get healthy, and do what you do, brother.”

Meanwhile, the leader of the Alpha Academy, Chad Gable appeared on WWE’s The Bump and spoke about a lot of things including Big E’s injury. The former RAW Tag Team Champion mentioned that he didn’t find it surprising to see Big E be so positive as he is one of the most cheerful guys in the locker room.

“I’m not surprised that his attitude is still so positive because it’s almost what you expect from him, that’s how he is. As much as an incredible athlete and a performer and wrestler that he is, the impact he has had, especially on me as an individual and as a human being, is unbelievable,” said Gable. “Some guys are able to just exude professionalism and good characteristics as human beings just by watching them conduct and carry themselves and he is the epitome of that. I have nothing but respect for that man.”
