WWE hosted its Road to WrestleMania Supershow at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois, featuring some great moments with Cody Rhodes. American Nightmare has been the company’s top babyface since returning to his former Hunting Grounds at WrestleMania last year. Rhodes joined the live event this week and defeated The Judgment Day member Finn Balor in a singles match. He was then attacked by Damian Priest and Dominic Mysterio. Cody Rhodes then addressed the live crowd and the three men explained that in the past he was a member of The Bullet Club and they wanted to be part of The Club. Then they threw in the Japanese stable’s signature “Too Sweet” autograph. Yes, and many believe he should dethrone Roman Reigns. Veteran wrestler Medusa, aka Alandra Blaze, also believes that former honorary wrestler Youse is “the next big thing” and should take precedence over Cody Rhodes.
“I don’t know about you guys but I think @SamiZayn is the next big thing! If they stop him from growing it would be a big mistake. They are trying to protect Cody Rhodes I know, but I have to let it go systematically. There is no turning back,” she wrote. American Nightmare has gone undefeated since returning to WWE last year. He beat out a ticket to the main event of WrestleMania after outperforming 29 other performers in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Meanwhile, Sami Zayn will be battling Undisputed for his WWE Tag Team Championship at Showcase of Immortals. The former Bloodline member may reunite with Kevin Owens in the coming weeks after he saved him from a post-match beating in Elimination Chamber.
Rhodes is also a legitimate draw at WWE’s house shows. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, after Rhodes won his Royal Rumble, there was a gradual spike in ticket sales for some of his live events. Additionally, Rhodes is reportedly the top merchandise mover in WWE since returning to the ring at the Royal Rumble. Rhodes is now the clear favorite to dethrone “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns and emerge as the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 39. Fans on social media believe an upcoming win could boost Rose as the promotion’s new face.
“WWE really needs to be careful about how they handle what Sami Zayn has. If it was an isolated incident, I think fans would be upset and unknowingly take it off, Cody Rhodes. We want him to keep giving. I don’t want the title shot to become something of a culmination of his story and be forgotten so quickly,” Foley said. Outlived men and qualified for the World Title in the main event of WrestleMania 39. He meets the winner of the Men’s Elimination Chamber match at Show of Shows.
