With WrestleMania 39 fast approaching, the Hall of Fame induction ceremony is another important date leading up to WWE’s biggest show of the year. This year’s show is set to take place in Los Angeles, with California native Melina claiming to be on board this year. Melina was a staple in her mid-2000s women’s division, and when Rita and Trish’s Stratus era came to an end, players like Melina, Michelle in McCool, Beth in Phoenix, Mickey in James, and more became female stars. I was in charge of the department when it did not exist. It will not be the same opportunity as today. At the recent virtual autograph session at the Asylum Wrestling store, the five-time women’s champion explained why she should be inducted into the Hall of Fame in her hometown this year.

Will Melina Be Replaced?

“If it’s not happening now, why is it happening somewhere else? If we don’t go back to LA… it doesn’t matter,” Melina added, adding, “If it’s not in LA, I feel like I will never be in the Hall of Fame unless I do some sort of deal,” he added. That was about 30 years ago.” Melina’s last appearance in the WWE ring was in January 2022, when she shocked fans in attendance by finishing second at the Women’s Royal Rumble match.

Another fascinating aspect of her Hall of Fame induction ceremony is who introduces the winners. WWE typically chooses performers who have strong ties to the legend they are trying to enshrine. Melina went on to speak at her signing at the Asylum Wrestling Store and was asked who she would like to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“This is a big Hall of Fame question. Who would you like to introduce yourself to? I have an idea, but at the same time, I want to know what my options are. Can relatives do this? Do you have friends outside of wrestling? Or should wrestling be your friend? I have to consider all options. What they let me do… depends on who allows me to present at that moment.” Beth Phoenix and Chyna are among the company’s most recognizable female stars.

The First Ultima Lucha Appearance

In 2015, Melina appeared at the end of Lucha Underground’s first season, assisting John Hennigan in the first Ultima Lucha. She opened up about the gig and the conversation about why she didn’t return for the following season. I shared that I dropped out of school to study psychology in order to focus on what I felt would be a recurring role. A month after her performance, she was informed that she was no longer needed. Melina had a conversation with Hennigan and told him that she felt something was wrong, but he told her to trust him and Lucha Underground. It’s like there’s been a lot of rumors going around, everyone said. “I was difficult and if you knew my personality, I didn’t have the attitude. I always do what I am told. I do everything to the best of my ability. Especially in those days, I don’t argue,” she added.
