D-Von Ray Dudley in WWE

Following a wage disagreement in mid-1999, Bubba Ray and D-Von departed ECW and debuted in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in September.  During the years 2000 and 2001, the Dudley Boyz battled the Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian for the World Tag Team Championship. The feud included two Tables, Ladders, and Chairs battles, the first at SummerSlam in August 2000 and the second at WrestleMania X-Seven. The Dudley Boyz won the World Tag Team Championship in late 2001, and during The Invasion, they unified it with the WCW Tag Team Championship.

Roster Change and Single bouts

In March 2002, the business split the roster into two brands, Raw and SmackDown!, following WrestleMania X8. When D-Von was drafted to SmackDown! and Bubba Ray to Raw, the Dudley Boyz were split apart. D-Von rose to prominence as a villainous priest, first as Mr. McMahon’s “spiritual counsellor” and then with his protégé Deacon Batista. Though the gimmick served as a springboard for Batista’s career, it didn’t last long, and Batista betrayed D-Von. On May 9, 2002, on SmackDown!, he pinned Triple H after Chris Jericho struck Triple H with D-collection Von’s box. It was one of his most memorable solo victory in his WWE career.

The Dudley Boyz returns

On November 17, 2002, at Survivor Series, D-Von was reunited with Bubba Ray and Spike when he assisted Bubba, Spike, and Jeff Hardy in defeating 3-Minute Warning and Rico in a tables match. Over the following sixteen months, the Dudley Boyz established themselves as a stable in the Raw tag team division. The Dudley Boyz abducted Paul Bearer, the manager of Paul Heyman’s adversary The Undertaker, on May 27, 2004. The Undertaker beat the Dudley Boyz in a handicap match on June 27, 2004 at The Great American Bash. They also won the WWE Tag Duo Championships for the second time, but were defeated by Paul London and Billy Kidman’s high-flying team.

The Dudleys parted their ways with WWE

The Dudley Boyz were taken off WWE television in early 2005 and transferred to Ohio Valley Wrestling as the WWE creative staff tried to come up with a plot for them. In June 2005, Dudley Boyz returned to WWE television to promote ECW One Night Stand, an ECW reunion show. WWE stated on July 5, 2005, that it will not pursue contract discussions with Dudley Boyz. They were sent legal notices to not use WWE trademarked names which turned into a court case.

Return to WWE

On the August 24, 2015 edition of Raw, Bubba and D-Von Dudley made a surprise comeback to the WWE, resurrecting their Dudley Boyz tag team identity. They assaulted the WWE Tag Team Champions, The New Day, and gave Xavier Woods a 3D through a table. The Dudley Boyz made an appearance on the Raw 25 Years broadcast on January 22, 2018, when they disrupted a battle between Heath Slater and Rhyno and Titus Worldwide (Apollo Crews and Titus O’Neil) and delivered a Dudley Death Drop to Heath Slater through a table. The Dudley Boyz were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018. Hughes returned to WWE as a backstage producer on September 26, a month after leaving the business. Hughes, who works primarily backstage, is occasionally seen on WWE television separating (kayfabe) brawls between wrestlers.

Are Bubba Ray and D-von Dudley actually brothers?

The Dudley Boyz are a tag team made up of two kayfabe half-brothers, Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley. They are one of the top tag teams of all time. They have also won the WWE Tag Team Championship nine times. The WWE depicted them as actual brothers, but because of their differing skin tones, it was difficult for fans to believe they were brothers in real life. This is why many WWE fans already know that they are merely on-screen brothers who are just pals in real life.
